Ile-Ife Communal Clash: Truth and Reconciliation Committee Sits Tomorrow
The Truth and Reconciliation Committee set up by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, to investigate and make recommendations on the clash between the Arewa and Yoruba communities in Ife is expected to sit tomorrow, Wednesday.
CityMirrorNews had reported yesterday, Monday that Oba Adeyeye had last Saturday set up a committee which has the Obalufe, Oba Idowu Adediwura as the Chairman on the clash.
The committee, according to the President of Ife Progressive Forum, Lawrence Awowoyin, will sit on Wednesday at the Ooni’s palace.
Awowoyin said Oba Adeyeye, who was seriously disturbed by the clash, insisted that the committee be meeting at the palace to monitor its activities.
Members of the committee include: the Obalufe, Oba Idowu Adediwura, as its chairman, and the Jaran, High Chief Ademola Adeyeye; Wasin of Ilare, High Chief Zacheus Olasode, Seriki Hausa, Alhaji Mamuda Mandagali; Ezendigbo of Ife Ezekiel Onyejekde; Okobairo of Urobo David Akpomedaye; Chairman Modakeke Progressive Union Tajudeen Oke and security agencies as members, while Senator Babajide Omoware is the adviser.
