Ife Crisis: Northerners‘ll Not Launch Reprisal Attack – Senator Kwankwaso

The Senator representing Kano Central, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, on Tuesday assured the Yorubas living in the North that the northerners would not launch reprisal attack on them in retaliation to the Ile-Ife communal clash.
Kwankwaso who visited the Sabo area of Ile-Ife today – Tuesday, where crisis ensued between Yoruba and Hausa in the ancient town last week, appealed to the Hausa community in Ife to remain calm.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting inside the mosque, Kwankwaso assured that his people would not launch reprisal attack, saying “the purpose of my coming here is to appeal to my people to continue to be law abiding.
According to him, “I told them that when I get home, the Kwankwasiya Foundation will go and sit down and by next week, we will send our own support.”
The former Governor of Kano State urged Hausas to remain calm, saying they should desist from any capable to forfeit the peaceful move by all concerned stakeholders to settle and forestall future reoccurrences.
Speaking, Governor Rauf Aregbesola advised the leader of the Hausa community not abhor those he called “hoodlums” responsible for the clash, saying the perpetrators from the Yoruba community have been arrested.
He said by coming together to fish out the perpetrators from both ends, the cause of the clash will be unraveled and justice will be served.
Aregbesola further said that the state government would set up Peace and Reconciliation Committee, saying all the perpetrators would not go unpunished.
The national emergency management agency and its Osun state counterpart are also on ground to distribute relief materials to the victims of the clash.
Also, on the entourage are senator representing Osun east senatorial District Babajide Omoworare and other personalities. They have come to commiserate with the Hausa community as peace move is gradually taking shape.
