Wives Of Security Personnel Are Also Heroes- Dr Ajimobi
By Olu Babalola, Ibadan
The wives of security officers in the country have been described as the real heroes in the security of lives and property in Nigeria because of their important roles
This assertion was made by the wife of the Oyo State Governor, Dr Florence Ajimobi when she received the Police Officers’ Wives’ Association team led by the wife of the Inspector General of Police, Princess Asmau Ibrahim, in her office yesterday.
Dr Ajimobi said the wives of policemen who consistently support their husbands and manage the home fronts in their absence while they are busy keeping the country safe and combating every internal threat are the reasons the men can serve with focus.
The wife of the Governor assured the association of her readiness. to continue supporting them as she and her office have always done in the past.
She asserted that the visions of power directly aligns with her and her programmes, adding that as the association is set out to empower people, especially women, so does she also do through her office.
The Governor’s wife said as part of her empowerment programme, she has reached out to many schools in the rural area through her Educate a Rural Child Initiative, where she provided school uniforms, school bags, sandals to pupils and brick classrooms, laboratories and libraries to the hinterland schools.
She appreciated the efforts of the wife of the 19th indigenous Inspector General of Police for visiting her, stating that she is the first wife of IG to visit Oyo state.
The wife of the Inspector General of Police, Mrs Asmau Idris while stating the purpose of the association’s visit said the association was there to appreciate her support for the association and ask for more assistance.
She stated that the association’s core focus is giving back to the society, part of which is organizing skill acquisition and empowerment programmes for wives of fallen heroes to provide a means of livelihood for them.
She stated that they have, on a few occasions, ran campaigns against child abuse, drug abuse and other social vices as part of giving back to the society, while soliciting for support in engaging them in programmes that will empower them and keep them busy.
She therefore pleaded with the wife of the Oyo state governor to help in providing schools and rehabilitating existing schools in the barracks for the teeming population of pupils.
