Security guard defiles 10-year-old in generator house

A security guard with a restaurant in the FESTAC Town area of Lagos State, Covenant Dako, escaped death by a whisker after he was attacked by an angry mob for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.

The Kogi State indigene would have been lynched, but for the intervention of the policemen from the FESTAC Town division who responded to a distress call from the management of the restaurant.

He was subsequently rescued and taken into custody.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the 45-year-old had lured the victim with N50 and had rounds of sex with her in the restaurant’s generator house on Friday, February 3.

He allegedly took the victim again on February 6, and was having sex with her when he was sighted by a passerby who alerted residents.

Our correspondent gathered that he was beaten to a pulp before the police intervened.

A source said the incident happened around 3pm.

He said, “The man works as a security guard with a restaurant on 22 Road, FESTAC Town. Around 3pm last Monday, he took a girl into the generator house and had sex with her. Somebody who was passing by, saw them and alerted people around. That was how he was caught in the act.

“The girl who is in Primary 4, said it was the second time that he would defile her. She said she sometimes asked him for money and he always give her N50. She said the first time he defile her was on February 3. And when she asked him for money again four days later, he took her into the generator house and defile her.”

A police source said the victim also lived in the neighbourhood, adding that her parent had been identified.

He explained that the minor, who strayed from home, had been taken to Mirabel Centre of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where test were conducted on her.

“We are awaiting the results of the tests. But the suspect has confessed to the crime. He said the girl tempted him by always asking for money,” he added.

PUNCH Metro was told that the suspect was married and had two girls.

The spokesperson of Lagos State Police Command, Dolapo Bamos, confirmed the incident, adding the investigations were ongoing.

Badmos a Superintendent of Police, said, “A team of policemen rescued a 45-year-old man, identified as Dako. He was about to be lynched by mob when the police intervened.

“He is a security guard with an eatery in FESTAC Town. We were told that he allegedly defiled a minor in the community inside the eatery’s generator house. The victim has been taken to a hospital for treatment, while the suspect is in custody. He is assisting with investigations.”
