Sack Interior Minister Now, Group Tells Osinbajo
Jide Afolabi
Coalition of about 19 Christian groups under the aegis of Patriotic Christian Front (PCF) has asked Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo to sack the Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau (rtd).
The coalition which cuts across the 19 northern states and Abuja alleged the federal government of showing ‘special interest’ in the criminal activities of Fulani herdsmen especially in Taraba State.
They criticized the role allegedly played by Danbazau, after the attacks in Taraba state and alleged that he was pursuing an ‘Islamic agenda’.
National President of the group, Timothy Nasso also alleged that the Buhari-led government was out to destabilise the state because Governor Darius Ishaku is the only, “Christian governor from the North-East” while addressing the media.
Nasso warned against harassment and intimidation of Taraba state Governor and vowed that Christians from Northern Nigeria would resist it.
They also criticized the Federal Government for deploying high-powered delegation to the state and stated that it was an indication that it had a special interest in the state.
He said, “The sudden interest which the Federal Government showed by immediately deploying the Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahaman Danbazau (rtd); Minister of Women Affairs, Senator Jumai A’isha Alhassan; the Inspector- General of Police, Ibrahim Idris; the General Officer Commanding 3rd Amoured Division, Maj. Gen. Benjamin Ahanato; and Senator Yusuf from Taraba Central Senatorial zone is an indication of government’s vested interest in the Taraba crisis.”
It would be recalled that such high delegation was not sent to Kaduna, Benue and Enugu when the states were attacked by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
