NGO Distributes Sewing Machines, Computers, Other Items To Inmates In Osun

In the bid to completely rehabilitate inmates in Osun, a  non-governmental organization, Springtime Development Foundation, SGF, on Wednesday, distributed some learning equipment to inmates of medium security prison, Ile-Ife in Osun State.

The equipment included five sewing machines, six computers, three UPS, three extension boxes, two irons, three clippers, five scissors, eight packages of tread and a roll of clothes to practice with.

It should be recalled that the foundation had earlier distributed mattresses and pillow cases to the inmates  this year.

Speaking on behalf of the donor and chairman of the foundation, Dr. Deji Adeleke, the vice chairman, Mr Banji Adesuyi said the gesture was geared towards equipping the inmates with various skill acquisition so as to be useful to the society after their jail terms.

“Being in jail isn’t the last thing in ones life, great men were once in jail too. This is to encourage skill acquisition of the inmates and we promise to do better. We have once distributed mattresses and pillow cases and this is just another set,” he said.

The Foundation also donated a sum of N150,000 to the general welfare of the prison.

In his remarks,  the Assistant Controller in charge of the prison, Mr Ajagomo Mattew appreciated the donor, and prayed for abundant returns from God.

He noted that  the equipment would enhance proper skill acquisition of the inmates and make them to be more resourceful after regaining their freedom.

He thereby urged them to make judicious use of the equipment and concentrate on the learning process.

A representative of the inmates, Maha Kaikehe lauded the good gesture of the donor, and promised to make good use of the equipment to  the admiration of the donor.
