Sambisa: Army Routs Boko Haram Insurgents, Loses 3 Soldiers
The Deputy Director Army Public Relations of 7 Division under ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’, Colonel Kingsley Samuel has said that the vandalized and unserviceable Tank located by troops in one of the Boko Haram camps in Sambisa forest is yet to be recovered as the troops withdrew back to base following a fierce battle with insurgents.
This is even as he said troops during the operation encountered Boko Haram Terrorists and neutralized many of them, unfortunately 3 soldiers died in the operation and a few sustained injuries.
This was contained in a Press statement signed by the Army Spokesman, Colonel Samuel which was made available to our Correspondent in Maiduguri on Sunday.
The statement reads: “Troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in conjunction with the Nigerian Air Force on Operation DEEP PUNCH has within the past one week embarked on clearance operations to dislodge Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) from their camps.
“The troops successfully cleared the terrorists’ camps at Talala, Ajigin, Mangzum, Abagajiri, Kafa, Dusula, Buk, Malumti and Abulam.
“In furtherance of the clearance operations, the troops on Friday, 10th November 2017 while acting on credible on information that the terrorists were massing up at certain camps in fringes of Sambisa Forest , advanced and cleared the BHTs at Shyadawe-Angwan-Fulani, Shyadawe-Angwan-Bula-Musa and Shyadawe.
“The troops during the operation encountered BHTs and neutralized many of them. Unfortunately 3 soldiers died in the operation and a few sustained injuries.
“The remains of the deceased soldiers have been evacuated while those injured are receiving medical treatment at a military hospital.
“The troops captured 2 gun trucks, 3 motorcycles, many bicycles and a laptop containing valuable information.
“They (troops) also located a vandalised and unserviceable tank in one of the cleared BHT camp. All efforts to recover the tank failed as the troops safely withdrew back to base”. Samuel stated.
