Nasarawa State Govt Restores Full Payment Of Workers’ Salaries
Gov. Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State on Monday announced that the State Government had restored the full payment of salaries and allowances of its civil servants.
Al-Makura announced this in Lafia at the commencement of a five-day retreat, organised for Permanent Secretaries, Directors and labour officials in the state.
He also announced the promotion of over 9,000 civil servants in the state.
He said that government restored the full payment of the salaries and allowances in order to boost the morale of the workers.
The governor recalled that he had earlier promised the workers that once the state economy improved, government would give priority to their welfare.
“We have also elevated over 9,000 civil servants in the state who had been awaiting their promotions for a while now,” he said.
Al-Makura said that the retreat was part of government’s efforts to build capacity of the civil servants for better service delivery.
He pledged that the state government would continue to do everything within its power to ensure efficiency in the performance of the civil servants.
The governor also promised to recruit additional 2,000 teachers to boost the state’s education sector before he left office in 2019.
In his speech, the Head of Service in the state, Mr Thomas Ogiri, urged the participants to take the training seriously so as to enhance their capacity.
Ogiri said that the state government would organise similar training regularly to enhance the capacity of the civil servants in line with international best practices. (NAN)
