Crisis Looms In Osun APC As Appeal Pannel Dismissed Hussein’s Appeal, Postponed Primary Election, Supporters Kick
The All Progressive Congress Appeal Committee led by Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, has dismissed an appeal filed by Sen. Mudashiru Hussein, an aspirant for the vacant seat of Osun West Senatorial primary election earlier scheduled to hold today June 12 2017
Senator Hussein disqualification was hinged on the fact that he was still a Cabinet member within 30 days of filing to contest the bye election, contrary to the provisions of the Electoral Act as amended.
The coast now seems clear for the younger brother of the late Isiaka Adeleke ,Ademola Adeleke as the sole aspirant.
It was learnt that the Rikiji-led screening committee relied on APC 2014 Election guidelines which state that ” aspirants seeking public office on its platform shall not have remained an employee of the public service within 30 days proceeding”.
Meanwhile, supporters of Senator Hussein have vowed to resist any attempt to ‘rub’ their candidate, saying the panel are acting on the directives of some ‘cabal at the national level’.
The osun West Senatorial primary election has now been postponed till tomorrow, Tuesday, June 13, 2017″.
The information is contained in a statement made available to newsmen by the publicity secretary of the APC in the state, barrister Kunle Oyatomi.
