Osun Bye-Election: Committee Disqualifies Senator Hussain, Confirms Adeleke

The Screening Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Osun West Senatorial by-election has disqualified an aspirant, Senator Mudasiru Hussain.

The committee headed by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Nasarawa State, Hon Sanusi Rikiji, Hussain failed to resign his appointment 30 days to the election as required by the APC constitution and the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

However, the the screening committee confirmed and approved Mr Demola Adeleke.

Rikiji said the two candidates (Sen. Husain and brother to late Sen. Isiaka Adeleke, Ademola Adeleke) presented to his committee by the state party were screened  and served the outcome of the screening according to the party guild line.
 
He said the primary to pick a party candidate for the July 8, INEC schedule Osun West bye-election would hold on Monday by 8am, and that his comittee we would be on ground from 7am.
 
He however appealed to all candidates to guild their followers to conduct themselves during the primary stating that any candidate that has complaints or any complaints what so ever should be directed appeal committee.
 
Reacting to the outcome and disqualification screening order, Sen. Husain (who had serve two terms at the senate before losing the seat to late Sen. Isiaka Adeleke) said he will contest the primary on Monday, contrary to his disqualification.
 
Husain who was appointed and sworn-in as the Osun Commissioner for Cabinate on May 30, said he had formerly resigned his position and tendered his resignation letter to the governor on June 6.
 

He said he was qualified to contest the party primary on Monday and said the screening was fraudulent.

 
However, the screening committee stated that an appeal committee will seat to entertain complaints from agrived candidates.
