Ex-Convict to Spend 7 Years in Jail for Burglary in Osun

A 30-year-old man, Olajide Adeshina, was on Thursday sentenced to seven years imprisonment for burglary in Osogbo, Osun State.
Adeshina was slammed of three counts charge of burglary, theft and fraud preferred against him.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Fagboyinbo Abiodun, told the court that the convict committed the offense on Oct.19,2016 at Ofatedo area in Osogbo.
Abiodun said the convict broke into the apartment of one Egynlola Adewunmi and carted away Dell laptop, HP laptop, X- Touch phone and a school bag containing GTBank ATM and a total sum of N30,000 in cash.
He added that “the convict used the stolen phone to fraudulently transfer the sum of N37,000 from the complainant’s account number 0224811007 and BVN 224001740532 to his own account”.
Abiodun said “Adeshina had been a serial house breaker and also convicted twice before he committed same offence again.”
The Prosecutor said the offense committed contravened sections 411(1), and 390(9) of the criminal code cap 34 Vol. 11 laws of Osun, 2003.
The convict who had no defence in the case pleaded guilty of the count and urged the court to temper justice with mercy.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Fatimoh Sodamade, sentenced the convict to seven years imprisonment starting from the day of his arraignment, due to the magnitude of the offense committed without any option of fine.
