Pep Gaurdiola wins Premier League Manager of the Month

Manchester City Manager, Pep Guardiola has been named the Premier League Manager of the Month for February.

The Premier League announced on their official website that Guardiola beat Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho, Chelsea’s Antonio Conte and West Brom’s Tony Pulis to the award.

The tweet reads “Congrats to @ManCity’s Pep Guardiola on winning the February Barclays Manager of the Month Award after a string of impressive wins.”

The 46 year old Guardiola, was selected by a combination of votes from a panel of experts and the public, after leading City to three wins in three games in February.

This is his first award since joining City in the summer.

Meanwhile, Tottenham striker, Harry Kane was voted Player of the Month, while Eden Hazard’s goal in Chelsea’s 3-1 over Arsenal is Goal of the Month.

Kane, who scored four goals in three matches in February and provided an assist beat five other contenders: Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and David Silva, West Bromwich Albion defender Gareth McAuley, Hull City goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic and Romelu Lukaku, the Everton forward.

Hazard’s goal, a brilliant solo effort, beat eight other goals to the award.
He told the Premier League website“It is one of the best Premier League goals I have scored for sure”

“I was not thinking about scoring but step by step I came close to the goal and in the last 10 metres I was alone.

“When the ball went in I felt that I created something special so I was happy.”

The Premier League Player and Coach of the Month Award is a monthly recognition of industry and class of team’s players and contributions to the success of their team from the start to the end of the month.
