NGO Urges Stakeholders to Rise Up to Child Right Issues in Osun

The Osun Chapter of the National Council of Child Rights Advocates of Nigeria (NACCRAN) has urged stakeholders to rise up to the challenges faced by children calling for the enforcement of the child right laws in the state.

The State Coordinator of the group, Pastor Leye Adefioye, made the call during an advocacy visit to the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Correspondent Chapel in Osogbo.

Adefioye said stakeholders need to be sensitized in order to support Osun children so as to enable them take their rightful position in the scheme of events especially in the country.

He said “Ignorance on the part of Children, poor parenting results to neglect, abuse and improper care of the child by his or her parents”.

According to him, the need to give publicity to Child Right Law (CRL) is vital to the upbringing of such child.

Aadefioye called for psycho-sociological support to children by the state government especially orphans who are neglected and need the support of the public.

The Chairman, Osun Chapter of the NUJ Correspondents Chapel, Mr Hammed Oyegbade, thanked the team of NACCRAN for their visit and promised that the needed publicity would be carried out to ensure that the public are kept abreast on child right issues.

Oyegbade, however, urged the representatives of the group not to relent in ensuring that child right issues in Osun are taken serious.
