Hausa, Yoruba Clash in Ife: Death Toll Rises to 15
About 15 people were said to have died in the awful clash between Hausa and Yoruba people in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Though, the number of casualties in the crisis could not be ascertained as the time of filing this report, but CityMirrorNews gathered from eye witnesses that 15 dead bodies were evacuated from Sabo and Lagere areas where the crisis occurred.
The deadly attack which started on Tuesday night thrown the entire Ile-Ife into confusion and panic, as residents of the ancient town scampered for safety.
The communal clash which claimed many lives and homes was said to have occurred after an altercation between a Yoruba woman and a Hausa man who were said to be dating each other.
Security operatives have commenced the evacuation of dead bodies and injured victims of the attack. Policemen were seen carrying the lifeless bodies and injured victims.
A camp has also been set up for those who sustained various degrees of injuries, men, women and children at the Ile-Ife Police Area Command. Many injured Hausa people were seen receiving treatment at the command clinic.
Despite the presence of heavy security operatives around Sabo and Obalufon areas, tension still pervaded the communities as the residents, both Hausa and Yoruba felt insured because of possible resurgence.
