By Ayobami Agboola, Osogbo
The Government of Osun State, on Monday called on its citizens to patronise made in Osun products in order to boost the economy of the State.
Mr Akeem Okunade, Senior Special Adviser to Gov. Rauf Aregbesola on Commerce, Cooperative and Industry gave the charge while addressing journalists at Ayegbaju International Market Osogbo on Monday for the lunching of Expo and the Made in Osun campaign.
Okunade said, the collective efforts of every citizen would help ensure economic growth and development of the state.
He further explained that Made in Osun products would be branded with the intention of projecting the state and its economic potentials.
According to him, “the desire to mobilise the people in promoting made in Osun products and also creating awareness is sacrosanct.
Okunade said, the state has a lot of potentials which would help to rejuvenate the economy and also make the state an economic hub.
The manager of Ayegbaju International Market, also sought the support of stakeholders including the media to help in sensitizing parents and guardians on the dangers posed by street hawking.
He said the essence of building modern markets by the present administration would be defeated if people are not using them.
According to Okunade, many shop owners at Ayegbaju International market which was built with huge amount of money have not been using it as expected, a situation Government would not condone.
He said Government will soon organise Conference and expo to launch made in Osun products towards showcasing efforts of small and medium scales enterprises as well as reviving the economy of the State.
While stressing the need for private individuals and corporate organisations to join Government in building the state’s economy, Mr Okunade appealed to markets men and to ensure they occupy the shops they acquire.
Also speaking, a business improvement expert, Doctor Yemisi Obelawo and Entrepreneur, Barrister Abimbola Amusan called for serious collaboration with Government to move the State’s economy forward.
Dr Obelawo, stressed the need for public -private partnership in the industrial sector to maximise production and profit.
Obelawo added that customer service excellence would add value to the economy making the economy one of the best.
She urged stakeholders to support the event industry and also lure local investors to invest in the state.
The business expert called for an adequate structure and a veritable platform that would promote the use of local content and service providers.
Obelawo, however, urged stakeholders in the state to aid networking in the industrial sector that would enhance optimal business performance.
Echoing a similar view, Prince Adenle Babajide Martins, who is the project Coordinator maintained that the made in Osun campaign is initiated to serve as a platform where the best local produce/services are celebrated.
