Revealed: How Promiscuous Wife Caused Hausa, Yoruba Clash in Ife
CityMirrorNews has uncovered the cause of the deadly clash between the Hausa and Yoruba people in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The medium learnt that the clash escalated from a minor face off between a housewife of a commercial transporter and a Hausa man who were said to be dating each other.
Sources said failure of the Hausa man to pay an agreed N2000 to the housewife after their sexual intercourse led to a serious altercation between the two which degenerated to a physical attack on the woman.
The Hausa man reportedly slapped the woman, a move that attracted sympathy from the people around at the Sabo area.
The sympathizers who recognized the woman called her husband, a commercial driver who allegedly stormed Sabo with his friends on Tuesday.
While the driver and the Hausa were said to engaged each other in exchange of fists, their supporters also attacked one-another, causing an uproar in the area. The incident occurred at night.
The news of the violent clash of the Hausas and Yorubas filtered into the ancient town, causing panic and uncertainty for the residents.
It was gathered that the two groups renewed the onslaught on each other early Wednesday (today) morning which led to the death of seven people, according to report.
Goods, shops and properties of the people were burnt at the Sabo and Lagere areas in the attack, as residents ran for safety.
However, police have restored peace in the ancient town with heavy policemen making security patrol.
