APC, the Mastermind of PDP Crisis- PDP Chieftain, Ogunrinade
By Olabode Abolaji
The first Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Elder Layi Ogunrinade has accused the leadership of the All Progressives Congress of masterminding the crisis currently ravaging the party at the national level.
Elder Ogunrinade stated this on Monday while featuring on a radio programme in Osogbo.
According to the PDP Chairman, the progressives try to unsettle their opposition as they are not courageous to win elections based on their performance.
He avowed that there is no valid chairman of the party at the national level yet, as the convention is the only platform where such decisions are made and has been the subject of controversies and litigation.
“The APC are behind our crisis, APC knows it has not performed well, that’s why they want to kill the PDP. But here in Osun, we are united, both Adagunodo and Faforiji are united. They are Godly people.”
“Neither Markarfi or Sheriff is the authentic PDP Chairman, we have not had a convention, so there is no Chairman. What is killing us is godfatherism and interest of some individuals.”
Ogunrinade stressed further that “For example, our Governors, Fayose (inclusive) wants to take control of the party’s leadership. We can’t have it that way. Our constitution should be changed in such a way that only a neutral body will be allowed to conduct our party’s primaries.”
The PDP Elder absolved members of the party from the South West among those involved in high profile corruption cases in the country saying it is rampant among technocrats and people from other parts of the country.
On the death of the first civilian governor of Osun State, Isiaka Adeleke who passed on recently, he said the PDP is bereaved by the development as he was a strongman in the state’s politics.
Ogunrinade was also of the school of thought that the late Two-Time Senator did not die a natural death.
His words “The entire PDP in Osun is still in mourning over the death of our friend. We know he was killed because his death was not natural. Definetely, he was killed by someone that we leave in God’s Hands.”
“The APC has not justified its elections. We even have a forensic analysis that the 2014 election votes were rigged with votes from Ivory Coast. Come the by-election and the governorship election, we will beat the APC hands down. They do not have the support of the people again.”
