A mild drama which could have enveloped into crisis was averted by leaders of the All Progressives Congress at its final Mega Rally for tomorrow’s Osun West Senatorial District By-Election held at the Baptist High School, Iwo on Thursday.
Few minutes to the end of the campaign, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Lasun Yussuff who since 2015 has been in a cold war with Governor Rauf Aregbesola surfaced at the campaign ground.

The mood among leaders of the party in the state present at the event changed as many of those in Aregbesola’s camp were infuriated on what could he (Lasun) would have come to do when many of his supporters and followers in the Osun APC Home Base movement had garnered support for the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the election, Otunba Ademola Adeleke.
After Governor Rauf Aregbesola ended his remarks, Lasun rose to the podium wanting to address supporters of the party but was blocked by a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon Rotimi Makinde who insisted that the governor should not allow him to “speak”.

He said since Lasun Yussuff has for the past 2 years engaged in a supremacy battle with his principal over events that culminated in his emergence as Deputy Speaker, he needs to have a “Deliverance after all his derogatory comments on the governor.”
Makinde shouted “He has no business to be here,he need deliverance.”

It later appeared that it was not only Makinde that did not buy into the idea of him speaking but also frowned on his sudden appearance at the party’s programmes after a “very long time.”
The guest artiste at the event, Kwam 1 on noticing the development immediately sang proverbial songs describing Hon Lasun Yusuf as a prodigal son of the party who came back only after loosing his face.
Sources who were near to the scene said “Looking closely at him, he appeared dejected and older than himself.”
