Speaking with newsmen, at the inauguration of NAVC members in Akure, Ondo state capital, the ICPC Chairman who was represented by Mr. Mike Sowe said the commission is expecting NAVC members to act as a vanguard for the enthronement of good governance at the various levels of social and political institutions of the commission.
Sowe said in carrying out their duties and responsibilities, all their investigating reports must always be forwarded to the ICPC for prompt investigation and possible prosecution.
His words, “you will assist the ICPC in the acquisition and dissemination of information and report acts of corrupt practises to the commission.
“You are expected among other things to mobilize, educate and create public awareness on corruption and its ills and on the laws governing the behavior of public officials and their responsibities towards citizens.
“You must remain above board, as the commission would not hesitate to prosecute any volunteer that commits any criminal offence”.
The NAVC was established by the ICPC in 2008 to create an opportunity for partnership with individuals and groups towards the eradication of corruption in Nigeria.
