FedPoly Ede Workers Declare Indefinite Strike, as Protest Grounds School
Members of the Non Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (NASUP) at the Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State have declared an indefinite strike to press home their demands on the implementation of reviewed scheme of service known as CONTISS.
The workers who staged peaceful protest at the school campus on Monday accused the management of the institution of insincerity and readiness to implement the new scheme CONTISS as approved by the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE) in 2013.
The protest grounded academic and non academic activities in the polytechnic as lecture halls and offices were shut by the workers.
Speaking with newsmen at the campus, the Chairman, Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics, (SSANIP) Mr Johnson Adekanlo said NASUP had exhausted all possible means to get the management for the implementation.
CityMirrorNews learnt that registrars of all the federal polytechnics in the South-West and representative of the NBTE recently met at the Federal Polytechnic Ede where the board declared that it could not implement the new scheme.
Public Relations Officer of the polytechnic, Prince Lawal did not answer several calls put on his line.
