NGO Charges Govt to Place More Priority on Education

An Osun state based Non governmental Organization known as Akin Adebisi Foundation

(AAF) at the weekend charged the federal and state governments to place more priority on education to prevent high rate of crime in the country.

The founder of the foundation, Mr. Akin Adebisi Olulekan who gave the charge in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo, argued that, a serious nation that wants to develop in all ramifications should not toy with its education.

Adebisi affirmed that, ‘If you educate someone, you are indirectly closing prison doors and protecting thousands lives that might be the victims of illiteracy.”

He however agitated that:“the priority of a serious nation should be education and the best option for Nigeria is for its stake holders to invest to boost government`s educational intervention programmes”.

While explaining what his foundation has in stock for people of the state and beyond, he described it as an asset to many Nigerians mostly the people of Ayedire, Iwo and Ola-Oluwa local governments of Osun State.

He said his target, is to extricate populace from abject living by investing in their education and launch empowerment programmes to prosecute their mental and physical poverty.

Olulekan who organized an extra moral coaching for school children in the local government, said he did so, to liberate them from poverty of ideas.

He however maintained that, “the best way to curb political thuggery, hooliganism and other social vices is to boost the standard of education in any given society.”
