72yr Old Man Commits Suicide In Ondo

A 72-year-old man identified as Titus Agunbiade has allegedly committed suicide in Ondo, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Agunbiade reportedly hanged himself with a rope on a wooden pillar inside his late father’s house located at Kajola street along Barrack road, Ondo.

The deceased was said to have climbed the two storey building with a ladder before hanging himself with a long rope in one of the rooms inside the house.

It was gathered that theĀ  decomposed body of Agunbiade was discovered after a long period as a result of the unpleasant odour in the area which was later traced to his father’s house.

Sources said the decomposed body was found dangling inside the house after search team consisting of residents of the area had visited it.

Although the immediate cause of the incident was unknown, a source hinted that the deceased lived a lonely life inside his father’s house while alive.

CityMirrorNews gathered that a pair of sandals and a towel belonging to the deceased were found on the floor near the wooden pillar on which he tied the rope with which he hanged himself.

Some police officers from the Yaba divisional police station, Ondo were said to have visited the deceased’s house.

It was also gathered that the deceased family has met with the police on the incident and arrangements are on for his burial.

Similarly, spiritualists and traditionalists were said to have commenced necessary rites to remove the lifeless body for burial in line with the tradition and culture of the town.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Yaba police station, Ondo Mrs. Regina Mogbojuri could not be reached for comment, but a senior Police officer in the division confirmed the incident.
