Man Goes against Ataoja of Osogbo, Installed ‘Baale’ and This Happened to Him

Osun State Police Command on Tuesday dragged a 71-year-old man, Akande Sulaiman before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly installing the Baale of Irepodun, Oke-Osun, Osogbo without the consent of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Olanipekun Oyetunji.

Police prosecutor, Adegoke Taiwo told the court that the accused person forcibly installed one Prince Abdulwahab Adegboyega-Oladunjoye as the Baale of Irepodun against the authority of the Ataoja.

Taiwo further explained that Akanbi did the unlawful coronation on January 25, 2017 at the community.

He added that the offence committed by the accused person was contrary to and punishable under Section 249(d) and 516 of Criminal Code Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.

But the accused person not guilty to the allegations slammed against him.

Defence Counsel, Mr Adeyinka Dada applied for the bail of the suspects in the most lenient term.

Dada promised the court that reliable sureties would stand for the accused person and he would not jump bail.

In her ruling, Magistrate Falilat Sodamade granted the accused person bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety

She thereafter, adjourned the case till the May 11, 2017 for mention.
