—-Empowers Over 600 Youths in Osun
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yusuff Lasun, has observed that suspended member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin lacks the competence to demand President Muhammadu Buhari’s resignation.
Yusuf made the remark while speaking in Osogbo, the Osun State capital during an empowerment programme he organised for some of his constituents.
Recall that the former Chairman of the House of Representatives committee on Appropriation, had last week asked Buhari to resign due to his health issues.
But, the Deputy Speaker of the lower legislative chambers said Buhari’s health condition had not in any way affected the running of the government.
He stressed that the Vice President, Yemi Osunbajo was very effective when the President was on medical vacation, adding that other arms of government performed very well while Buhari was away.
Yusuf, who is representing Orolu/ Irepodun/Osogbo/Olounda Federal Constituency at the lower legislative chamber, said, ” Leaders, all over are suffering from one ailment or the other. Why will Buhari resign? Is the National Assembly and the judiciary not working?
“Jibrin is just 40 years, he lacks the experience. If he has anything to suggest, he should write to the President but he is not competent to ask him to resign.”
Speaking on his empowerment programme, Deputy Speaker Ecowas Parliament said the empowerment scheme was designed to alleviate poverty and equip the less privileged to be economically self-reliant.
CityMirrorNews Correspondent who was at the Constituency office where the event took place reported that about 600 youths and women who benefited from the scheme were selected across the Irepodun/Olorunda/Orolu/Osogbo Federal Constituency.
The empowerment workshop was on the processing and marketing of plantain as well as ICT training.
It was however reported that the Deputy Speaker doled out some items like Laptop Computers, IPads worth millions of naira to each participants.
A sum of N100,000 were said to have been given to each of the participants specially trained on Mushroom, while N75, 000 was also given to plantain sucker trainees
Yusuff urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of items so as to compliment his bid to make them self-reliant, assuring the people of Osun State more of such life changing programmes.
