NNL: Osun United Beats Delta Force, Move to 9th on Table
Osun United football club of Osun State have moved up to 9th in the Southern Conference table of the ongoing Nigeria National League which is the second tier of the Nigeria Professional Football League after defeating visiting Delta Force 1-0 at the Osogbo Township Stadium on Sunday.
The only goal came through Victor Okeji’s wonderful strike in the 20th minute of the encounter as Duke Udi’s men got their second win of the season.
It would be recalled that the team had lost its two away games to Bayelsa United and Crown Fc of Ogbomoso but defeated Bendel Insurance FC in a match witnessed by the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Speaking after the game, Head Coach of Osun United, Duke Udi commended his players for their display urging their supporters to continue their unflinching support for the lads.
He said the players with time, would get used to the anxiety created by home fans stressing that his players play better away than at home.
The ex-international however expressed confidence in his side’s ability to conquer First Bank Fc of Lagos in their week 5 clash on Wednesday.
In his reaction, the gaffer of Delta Force said he had taken positives and negatives from the match.
The tactician also was happy that the influx of ex-internationals in team management will further enhance the quality of the local league and give young talents the impetus to grow.
The coach of Delta Force also commended the management of Osun United for their warm reception and peaceful disposition to the game.
“Football is not a game of war, it’s a friendly affair…..You don’t win at all cost, there are some games you lose and some you win…….It leaves to always prepare hard for every game.”
