The seeming crisis between Asiwaju Tunde Badmus and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola became evident yesterday as the Eid-Kabir prayer at the popular Oke Baale Muslim Praying Ground in Osogbo was almost disrupted following a crisis that erupted between the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Khamis Tunde Badmus and the current Attorney General of Osun State, Dr. Ajibola Basiru.

The flourishing relationship between Asiwaju Badmus and Ogbeni Aregbesola had greatly degenerated in the last few months, the degeneration manifested when Amo Byng Nig Ltd was announced as the anchor of the second phase for the Osun Broilers Production Scheme.

The relationship when flourishing gave the incumbent governor a resounding victory in his second term election, the ability of Asiwaju Badmus’s led coalition to deliver the much coveted Osogbo votes swinged the result in the favour of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

In a reaction exclusively given to the Punch Newspapers Correspondent and monitored by our medium.

The commissioner said, “I was at the praying ground when Chief Tunde Badmus came with his children and his followers. I made an attempt to greet him but he rebuffed me and I took no offence in that.

“I created space where I sat and there was a space for him to sit on but he asked my friend to get up and he called me a bastard and thief. I don’t know what I did to him to deserve those kinds of word in the public, but God gave me the calmness and I did not reply him. I refused to be provoked.”

But in a swift reaction, a highly placed source within the Badmus family, denied all these saying nobody harassed the Attorney General of the State, Dr Ajibola Basiru.

He alleged that Dr Basiru’s attempt to rewrite history, norm and tradition led to the fracas. This source took us down memory lane to explain the seating tradition at this particular Eid ground. It is customary for the Governor to seat on the left, the Ataoja of Osogbo in the middle and the Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland at the right.

He said “When we got to the Eid ground, Dr. Basiru was already seated on the front row with his friends who all happens to be unknown to either the Muslim hierarchy or monarchical hierarchy. It was a blatant disregard for the muslim norm and tradition. Chief Badmus had over 30 people in his entourage which included the Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Akintunde Adegboye, Senator Bayo Salami who also happens to be the Baba Adinni of Osogbo land, Chief Bayo Jimoh who is the Giwa Adinni of Osogbo land and former GMD of Odua Investments Group, Justice Adegoke, Alhaji Tajudeen Oladipo who is the Oluomo of Osogbo land, Rtd AIG Odofin, Alhaji Fatai Diekola, Kunle Adegoke Rasheed(K-RAD) among others.

“We informed the people seated in the front row with the AG to move and create space for the leaders but they insisted they would not move, this eventually led to a fracas between our supporters”.
