Ondo Assembly Dissolves All Standing Committees

The crisis rocking Ondo State House of Assembly took a new twist on Thursday as the faction that impeached the former Speaker of the House; Honourable Mrs Jumoke Akindele dissolved all standing committees of the House.

The dissolution took place during a plenary sitting at the Assembly complex in Akure, presided over by the factional acting Speaker, Hon Malachi Coker.

At the sitting, Hon Iroju Ogundeji, representing Odigbo 1 constituency, was unanimously voted as the spokesman for the house.

Earlier, factional acting Majority Leader, Hon Olamide George, moved the motion to nominate Ogundeji as spokesman and was seconded by Hon Kazeem Suleiman, representing Akoko South-West Constituency 1.

The House also announced that all staff of the Assembly should resume their duties, and subsequently called for a meeting with them.

It was gathered that the staff meeting was interrupted by heavy police presence led by the Ondo Commissioner of Police, who ordered the staff to vacate the assembly premises.

All the factional lawmakers were also ordered to vacate the premises as it was to be sealed, but the lawmakers refused, and were still inside the premises as at the time of this report.

Also heavy policemen were still dominates the assembly premises while pressmen were also denied entry into the assembly premises.
