Ex-Osun Council Boss, Ogunkanmi Condoles Aregbesola on Mother’s Death
Former Executive Secretary of Ayedire Local Government area of Osun State, Mr Gbenga Ogunkanmi has condoled Governor Rauf Aregbesola over the death of his mother, Alhaja Saratu Aregbesola popularly called Iya Olobi.
Ogunkanmi in a condolence message on Wednesday described Alhaja Saratu as a woman who lived a remarkable life with total obedience to Allah’s dictates.
He said: “Alhaja Saratu lived a good life; she was a loving, caring, protective and supportive mother. She was an epitome of a good mother, and an example of Godly woman in all ramifications.
“She would be remembered for her staunch and unshakable support for her son, Rauf Aregbesola before, during and after the April 14, 2007 governorship election. We recollect how she was forced to leave her home by the power mongers who were maiming and killing to ensure that her son did not contest the 2007 governorship election.
“As a mother, Alhaja Saratu was not perturbed, nor losed sleep because of the danger that shrouded the governorship election. She instead gave maximum support to her son and rallied round him.
“Alhaja Saratu who was known for hard-work, truth telling, resilience and deep religiousness, was a true and quintessential mother, an enterprising woman, a loving wife and caring person to all and sundry. I pray to God to accept her soul and rest her in peace.
“I congratulate Governor Rauf Aregbesola and his siblings for succeeding their mother.”
