APC NWC to Meet Senate Caucus on Tuesday Over Senate/Presidency Frosty Relationship
Worried by the frosty relationship between the Senate and the Presidency, the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is set to meet APC senators at the upper chamber on Tuesday.
The meeting which also include top officials of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is basically to discuss the tension and the way out of the hostile posture of the senate to the presidency.
Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Bolaji Abdullahi stated this in a press statement issued today.
The party said it hopes the scheduled talks will help quell a wave of bitter exchanges between the executive and the legislature that had continued to heat up the polity.
The ruling party expressed confidence in its ability to resolve the latest rift between the two arms of government but warned members to be mindful of their conduct as it finds a lasting solution to the crisis.
The press statement reads in part: “Worried by the worsening relationship between the two arms of government, the party had embarked on a series of consultations with the key actors aimed at resolving the growing impasse.”
“The party, however, warns that it would not hesitate to take appropriate action against any member whose utterances or behaviour are capable of jeopardising the peace initiatives or further worsening the existing situation.”
