We have participated in several kidnappings within Lagos, Ogun states, Turkish School Kidnap Suspects Confess
Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the Turkish school kidnap. Three pupils and five officials of the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC) in Isheri North, Ogun State, were kidnapped last January 13.
They have since been released.
It was also gathered that detectives also recovered N3million from the suspects – Egbasimokumo Ayeomi, 24, and Super Alex, 21, who are from Ondo state.
They were arrested in Ikorodu, Lagos by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT) led by Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abba Kyari, while trying to escape to their home state.
According to a source, the suspects confessed to have participated in several other kidnappings within Lagos and Ogun states.
He said they had given “useful and valid” information to the police, adding that their confessions would assist in rounding up other suspects.
They were said to have confessed that they were behind the last December killing of a popular comedy show presenter, Stand Up Nigeria, Aisha Ali-Balogun and several others on the Majidun axis of Ikorodu Road.
Ali-Balogun’s two year-old daughter and six others were abducted by the gunmen who stormed the Ikorodu Road in military uniforms, shooting indiscriminately.
Six other suspects, including a militant, Phillip Joel, also known as General Kakadu and a nurse, Felicia Weinoh, who specialised in treating victims and members of the kidnapping gang terrorising Lagos and Ogun states, were earlier arrested by the IRT operatives.
Ayeomi and Supper were spotted leaving the Ikorodu creeks from Majidun with some bags. When the bags were searched, the sum of N3million was found on the suspects and during interrogations they confessed take part in the kidnapping and they confessed their roles.
The suspects confessed to have collected the sum of N2million each from the ransom which was paid for the release of the victims.
Supper, 21, also explained how his gang killed Ali-Balogun, the presenter of the popular comedian show in 2016.
He said: “I am a native of Arogbo Town in Ondo State but I came to Lagos and joined the kidnapping gang in 2016. One of friends Austin invited me to the gang and we worked with Stone who is a commander of the camp and he works under Ossy, our overall boss. We have 38 rifles in our Ajegunle area of Ikorodu. We usually distributed ourselves in three places, some were in front, some in the middle, while the rest were behind. We shot indiscriminately but the people in front were the ones who killed people. My gang leader, American was the one who killed the woman that day. He told us after the operation that he stopped the woman, who was carrying a man and two children, but when he stopped them the man ran out of the car with of the children and the woman sprang off with the car and he shot her because she almost killed him and abducted her daughter.
“Stone, who is the camp leader, was not happy with the killing but he said he was left with no other option. We kidnapped six persons, including the woman’s two year-old daughter and a ransom of N2million was paid before their release. Someone who claimed to be the husband to the woman, paid us N500,000, before we released the two–year-old girl and explained that he wanted to use the other money in his procession. The other victims paid us N1.5million and I got N45,000 as my share. That was because the people in the camp were many. Three weeks ago, one of the leaders in our camp, Julius, brought the job of the kidnapping of the Turkish school girls and staffs and when we kidnapped the girls, we didn’t beat them while we negotiated with their relatives because one of the students and the white woman among them assured us that the money we demanded will be paid by her parents and the school authorities.
“We use to beat our victims and make them cry on the phones while talking to their relatives but we didn’t beat the Turkish pupils. I got N2million and I was also monitoring the news, but I didn’t know that my colleagues have been arrested until I was arrested.
The other suspect confessed thus: “I am a wood logger and I was invited to join this camp by my friends. They told me that they were expecting big money and my job was to cook for the kidnappers and their victims and also wash their cloths. I got N2million as my share.”
