Osun Doctors Should be Considerate, Take Modulated Salary – Baderinwa
By Olabode Abolaji
The newly sworn-in Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Osun State, Mr Adelani Baderinwa has urged medical practitioners in the state to be considerate with the government and be ready to make sacrifices in the interest of the state.
This according to him will be achieved with the health workers particularly doctors taking the modulated salary structure agreed by the state government and the labour force asserting that Governor Rauf Aregbesola is “highly passionate about the welfare of workers in the state”.
In his maiden radio interview on Thursday in Osogbo, Baderinwa stated that the state’s doctors are the most remunerated in the south-western part of the country.
“The doctors should be considerate with the government. Before the financial crisis that was precipitated by the federal government sent packing in 2015, we all knew the deal our administration gave the civil service.”
“With the agreement, we pay 100% to those on levels 1-7, 8-15 get between 50-75% especially in the last six months while the top level cadre of levels 15 and above get 50%, and by the virtue of their salary and responsibility, they are part of the government”.
Baderinwa said “With all sense of responsibility, doctors are not special than others. They are not better than their other colleagues.”
He explained that the Aregbesola administration has performed “creditably well” adding that “financial issues” affected its wishes to meaningfully transform the state.
On the composition of the cabinet with interest of the party stalwarts and the present climate in the Osun APC, the Commissioner noted “I am from Ikirun in Osun Central, Idowu Korede is from Ilesa in Osun East, Taiwo Oluga is from Gbongan in Ayedaade Local Government with Mudashiru Toogun from Iwo in Osun West Senatorial District. We all know Idiat Babalola from the Adeleke extraction in Ede, so I believe that the Governor chose those he felt are competent to do the job”.
“All of us have our briefs and mandate to work with as members of the cabinet and we are all card carrying members of the All Progressives Congress in the state. Everybody knows us and they cannot deny the fact that we are all APC members in Osun.”
The Osun State Government Image-Maker is of the opinion that despite this, the present administration has lived up to its billings in developing the transformation of the state from where it met it.
