OAU Alumni Commends FG, Supports Acting VC

The Great Ife Alumni Association of the Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU), Ile-Ife, has pledged its support for the newly appointed Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Anthony Adebolu Elujoba to ensure his successful stay in office.
The association in a communiqué issued at the end of its National Executive Council meeting held in Ijebu-IJesa over the weekend lauded the federal government for the quick resolution of the crises that the institution over the process in the selection of the VC.
Presenting the communiqué on behalf of the members, the Worldwide President of the Great Ife, Mr Segun Oke stated that the alumni of the university aligned and accepted the position of the Federal Government in finding lasting solution to the crisis rocking the university.
Oke congratulated Professor Elujobi for his appointment, noting that the appointment of the OAU would definitely bring enormous development to the institution.
The OAU Alumni president debunked the insinuations that the association sponsored advertorials in some of the national dailies on the OAU crisis, declaring that the Alumni did not align with any group either academics or non-academics in the university before, during and after the appointment of the new VC.
He appealed to all stakeholders of the university to sheath their sword and berry their hatred for the progress and development of the institution.
The communiqué read in path: “The members of great Alumni Association of OAU congratulate the newly appointed acting Vice Chancellor of our great university Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Professor Anthony Elujoba.
“We align ourselves with the position of Federal Government in appointing Professor Elujoba from Faculty of Pharmacy as the acting Vice Chancellor.
“We thank all unions and stakeholders who have patient enough to see to it that the part of the growth and progress is told. We implored all stakeholders to please sheath their swords and berry their hatred, therefore, all hand must join together to move our great institution forward.
“We are affirming that the Alumni body worldwide is neutral and not align to any group on campus. We certified that advertorial in some national dailies was never placed by the president.
“We pledged our unalloyed support for the new administration and pray that God will continue to bless the Obafemi Awolowo University.”
The alumni however, postponed the forthcoming nine great Ife International reunion meeting to between 1st to 3rd of December, 2016 due to situation on campus.
