Ondo 2016: Mimiko Suffers Setback as INEC Declares Jimoh Ibrahim PDP Gov Candidate
Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has suffered a great political setback as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared popular business mogul, Jimoh Ibrahim as the authentic governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for November 26 2016 gubernatorial election in Ondo State.
The declaration of Ibrahim as the PDP candidate by INEC is in conformity with the ruling of a Federal High Court in Abuja which ordered the electoral commission to replace Mr Eyitayo Jegede with Ibrahim as the PDP governorship candidate.
Jegede had emerged the candidate in a primary conducted by the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the PDP while Mr. Ibrahim won the primary by the Ali Sheriff faction of the party held in Ibadan.
Jegede, who is Mimiko’s favourite was the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice before he resigned under the current Mimiko’s administration.
In this list of candidates the electoral commission posted on its website on Thursday evening, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu was also announced as the candidate of the opposition APC while Chief Olusola Oke was named candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
