Group lauds Buhari over Ooni’s appointment as UNN Chancellor

A social-cultural group, Yoruba Progressive Forum, YPF, has commended President Mohammadu Buhari for appointing Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi as chancellor of University of Nigeria, UNN, Nsuka.

The group, in a statement signed by its coordinator, Alhaji Olalekan Lateef Asiri, and made available to CityMirrorNews  on Sunday February 28, 2016 said the appointment was a “landmark one” because Ooni Ogunwusi, be the virtue of his position, is regarded as the father of the Yoruba race.

It added that since becoming monarch, Oba Ogunwusi has been making commendable efforts to unite every nationality and ethnic group in the country.

YPF further stressed that his efforts in that regard is already yielding positive results and urged the monarch to deploy his wisdom and influence to full use in managing his new  post.

“Ooni Enitan Ogunwusi is God-sent to Yoruba nation and Nigeria in general and we urge all and sundry to give Oonirisa the desire support”.

“We also charge other leaders to emulate the peaceful disposition of Ooni in the interest of peace and progress of the country in general and Yoruba race in particular,” the group concluded.
