NLC commends Aregbesola for Offsetting Outstanding Workers’ salaries–Sues for Understanding, Patience among Members

The Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC), Osun State Council on Saturday eulogized the Governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for clearing the outstanding salaries owe workers of the state.
In a press statement signed by the Chairman of NLC in the state, Comrade Jacob Tunde Adekomi, confirmed the payment of three months outstanding salaries recently paid by the state.
Adekomi commended the state government for living up to its statutory obligations even in the face of the current economic realities.
He said workers’ salaries had been paid up till November.
The state NLC boss implored the state government to pay the outstanding amount of the salary of workers who have been receiving half of their salaries since
July 2015.
He said the state government was owing workers on Grade Level 08 and above as well as pensioner for 18 months half salaries.
According to Adekomi, “We do not doubt that Mr. Governor is a man of his words and he will attend to the balance of the outstanding amount of the salaries of active and inactive officers on Grade Level 08 and above as well as the pensioners”.
The NLC boss said “the outgoing year was challenging for the workers in the state in the face of the grim and unfriendly economic situation due to the economic recession”.
“The development is no doubt sufficient to trigger industrial crises but the perseverance and understanding of workers in the state.
He therefore assured the civil servants that NLC will pursue the payment of the outstanding balance of the half of their salaries since July 2015.
