A 27-year-old man, Olapade Taofeeq has been remanded in Ilesa prison custody for allegedly stealing 286 bag of cements in Osogbo.
The accused person was said to have committed the alleged offence sometimes in the month of June, 2015 at Testing Ground Area, Osogbo, Osun State Capital.
Inspector Fagboyinbo Abiodun had on Wednesday February 24, 2016 told the court that the 286 bag of cements purportedly stolen by the accused valued at N514,800.
Abiodun further said that the stolen properties belong to one Oladepo Adeleke.
The offense according to the prosecutor was contrary to and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. 11 Law of Osun State, 2003.
But the accused pleaded not guilty to one count charge of stealing slammed against him.
Counsel to the accused person, Mr Okobie Najite, applied for the bail of the accused in the most liberal term.
Najite while praying the court to grant the bail of the accused, said that his client was still presumed innocent until contrary is proved by a court of law.
He promised that the accused would provide reliable sureties, assuring that he would not jump bail, if granted.
Police Prosecutor, Abiodun, objected to the bail application on the ground that the accused having jumped the administrative bail being given to him in 2015 before he was later apprehended would definitely jump bail if granted.
Handling down her ruling, Magistrate Fatimoh Sodamade ordered the accused to be remanded at custody in Ilesa prison pending the determination of the case in the next adjournment.
She, thereafter, adjourned the case till April 14, 2016.
