Hoodlums set 65-year-old woman ablaze in Lagos
Residents of Bariga, Lagos State were on Saturday thrown into mourning when suspected cultists burnt a 65-year-old woman, Adejoke Adefuye to death after setting her residence ablaze.
City Mirror News gathered that the incident at occurred about 9:00 at 19, Oshinfolarin Street Bariga, Lagos.
It was however gathered that suspected hoodlums struck at the said time, allegedly trapped the woman inside her room and set it on fire the development which said to have rendered all occupants of the building homeless.
The suspected arsonists, it was gathered, camped behind the deceased’s room to ensure she did not escape.
The latest incident is the second by suspected cultists last week and it came after a similar incident in Mushin last Tuesday.
According to residents, the hoodlums were on a repisal mission and stormed the area since Friday night to terrorize people in the area.
Expressing discontentment over the disheartening incident a resident who spoke under the condition of anonymity said Adefuye was burnt beyond recognition though, other occupants of the building escaped with minor injuries.
He said he took the effort of fire fighters and other emergency responders about three hours to put out the fire.
While confirming the incident, Lagos State Fire Service Director, Mr Rasaq Fadipe charged the inhabitants of Lagos State the need for them to always inform the agency of fire outbreak on time.
Fadipe noted that the timely arrival of firemen to the scene reduced the extent of damage, adding that only two rooms were affected.
Echoing a similar view, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency’s (LASEMA) boss, Mr Micheal Akindele, said those who sustained injuries were treated by LASAMBUS, saying that deceased has been deposited in a mortuary.
