The group, in a press statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Planning Committee, Mr Jide Bewaji and Ismaeel Uthman on Tuesday, said that the programme would hold tomorrow Thursday at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Old Garage, Osogbo.
According to the group in the statement, the programme was part of the group’s social responsibilities, aimed at assisting the less privilege who are suffering from eyes defects/problem.
The group stated that health matters should not be left to government alone, hence the group decided to give back to the community through the programme.
It disclosed that free eye test would be conducted for the people and those whose condition requires eyes glasses would be given free of charge, while those that need drugs and eye-drops shall also be given.
The statement reads: Nation building is a task that everybody must participate in. It is a patriotic move that everybody must key into. Everything must not be left to government. Everybody, especially the wealthy people must contribute in one way or the other to the development of our society.
“That is why we resolved, after we had organised economic summit last year December, to provide a free eye treatment for our people who are suffering from one eye defect/problem or the other. We are doing this because of the prevalence of eye problems ravaging our society.
“Many people have lost their sights to little eyes challenge due to poverty, lack of awareness and enlightenment on eye issues general. We want to assist the people on the maintenance of their sights.”
The group urged members of the pub$lic make good use of the opportunity and come out to benefit from the free eye programme.
