Implement Reports on College Of Education, Oro– KWHA
The Kwara State Government has been ordered to implement various reports on the State owned Colleges of Education, Oro with a view to salvaging the institution from the verge of collapse.
This is part of the resolutions of the state House of Assembly while considering a Motion Without Notice raised by a member representing Irepodun Constituency Hon. Matthew Babaoye.
Reading the resolutions of the House, the Deputy Speaker Elder Matthew Okedare who presided over the sitting said the implementation of the reports of the various committees on the institution would go a long way in addressing the myriad of problems confronting the institution.
The House equally enjoined the State Government to as a matter of urgency intervene in the payment of salary arrears owned the Staff with a view to keeping the College alive .
Hon. Babaoye had while raising the motion observed among other things that the institution which was the first to be established by the State Government in 1976 as an Advance Teacher’s College had in no small measures turned out products that are contributing meaningful to the education and socio-economic emancipation of the State, Stressing that staffers of the College had not been paid for 12 months thereby making them vulnerable to untold hardship.
Other members who contributed on the motion identified among other things mismanagement, policy somersault and urged government to intervene in salvaging the institution from labyrinth of collapse.
Equally the House urged the State Governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed to direct and make money available to relevant agency to grade the 32km Bani-Igbeti road to ease vehicular movement on the road.
The House took the decision after a considering a Matter of Urgent Public Importance raised by a member representing Bani/Adena/Gwera Constituency Hon Baaziki Sulaiman on the deplorable condition of Bani-Igbeti road.
