Bello Sets to Reposition Education in Kogi State
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has reiterated his determination to reposition educational sector in the State in order to boost the socioeconomic development
Governor Bello also pledged to reduce restiveness among the youths due to lack of proper and qualitative education .
He made this known on Tuesday in a press statement signed and made available to CityMirrorNews by his Chief Press Secretary, Petra Akinti Onyegbule in Lokoja.
According to Bello, the State needs to prioritize education in order to match the fast pace of development around the world.
He said: the need to reawaken education from its present situation was what informed our administration to place education as the number one priority in the New Direction Blueprint.
“Our government has seen the need to prioritize education. But in doing that, we are not oblivious of the need to restructure our education within the precinct of the educational policy of the nation to ensure we develop technical education to empower our youths to graduate into jobs of their own and spark a technological revolution in the nation.
“Kogi is a peculiar State with rich mineral and natural resources ready to be tapped. To get the best out of our resources, technical education must take the centre-stage.
“This administration will work assiduously and relentlessly to raise the standards of our technical education while keeping an eye on the general educational need of the people of the State.
“Our youth remain our best resource, and our administration will work hard to invest in them to ensure their energies are directed to the right priorities for the development of our State”, the Governor assured.
He said his administration is already assessing the infrastructural deficiencies in the tertiary institutions across the State, with a view to improving their standards.
Governor Bello pledged to make Kogi a leading State in education before the end of his tenure in office.
He urged all stakeholders in the education sector to key into his administration’s education vision.
