Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) still holds the ace in the state as the party still has the best welfare package and comprehensive rural-urban development.

He said this while addressing electorates during a campaign rally organized by APC to canvass for votes for the party’s candidate in the Saturday’s by election into Oorelope State Constituency, Mr. Jimoh Gbadamosi, at Igboho .

Ajimobi called on the people of the constituency to come out en masse and cast their votes for the ruling party’s candidate, stressing that they stood to gain more from voting for the ruling party than any opposition party.

The seat had become vacant following the murder of the former occupant, Mr. Gideon Aremu, on July 1 at his Ibadan residence.

The governor assured the constituents of sustained infrastructural development, describing the APC candidate as an accomplished lawyer and young politician who would not disappoint them.

Ajimobi said, “It is logical and more profitable for the people to support the ruling party in any election in order to attract developmental projects from the federal and state governments. I, therefore, implore you to vote for our candidate to bring more development to Igboho and its environs.

“Majority of those in the opposition parties during the 2015 general elections are already with us (APC). For instance, former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala, who used to be the leader of Labour Party in the state, is now with us along with his supporters.”

The governor said that Saturday’s election would further lend credence to APC’s strength and popularity, not only in the state but, in the country at large.

He assured the people of the state that his administration would continue to consolidate on its various achievements in the last five years to better the lots of the people.

The governor used the opportunity to again condemn the murder of Aremu while praising the police for apprehending the suspected killers.

Ajimobi commiserated with the people of Igboho in particular and those from Oorelope State Constituency who he said lost a shining star, gentleman and committed lawmaker.

“The death of Hon. Aremu is a sad occurrence because from all indications our state has outgrown incidences of violence and  brigandage. He was a very stoic legislator, a shining star and gentleman who had contributed immensely to the development of the state.

“Let me again warn criminals to steer clear of this state, because the long arm of the law will always catch up with them. They can only run, but they can’t hide.”He added.
