Ondo 2016: We Will Not Reconcile With Those That Left APC-Akeredolu

As the November 26, 2016 governorship election in Ondo State draws nearer, there are doubts the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state would get his house in order ahead of the election.

It would be recalled that the APC governorship primary election which produced Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) as the candidate of the party polarized the party chieftains, stakeholders and members.

However, Akeredolu has said that he is making move to reconcile with aggrieved members of the party who opposed his candidature.

But the legal practitioner maintained that his reconciliation move does not include former APC members who defected to other political parties as a result of the controversies that surrounded his emergence.

Akeredolu, in a statement on Sunday, urged his supporters not to lose hope in the reconciliation, saying that truce could be reached even a day before the election.

He said: “Only those who have dumped the party would be left out of the reconciliation efforts.”

Governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), Chief Olusola Oke contested the APC gubernatorial ticket with Akeredolu before he left for AD.

The Director General of the Oke’s Campaign Team, Mr Bola Ilori was a chieftain of the APC before joining Oke in AD.

Some political analysts have described Akeredolu’s statement as political inexperience, stating that the APC candidate need to reach out to as many people as possible in other political parties.
