How Omisore Group Dupes Businesswoman over Osun PDP Women Leader Slot

A businesswoman who recently ventured into politics is said to be currently biting her fingers for supporting the group of Senator Iyiola Omisore of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun state to realize her ambition.

CityMirrorNews gathered that the nascent woman politician known as Mrs Bilikis Oyedele from Ila, was promised the slot of state Women Leader of the PDP by the Dr Bayo Faforiji led Omisore’s group of the party.

Oyedele, who had initially been with the camp of the state Chairman of the PDP, Honourable Soji Adagunodo, was lured to the Omisore’s group with state women leader slot, by leaders of the group.

The woman politician fell for the bait and defect to the Omisore’s group with a mindset that her ambition and interest would be protected by the group and that she would be the next state women leader of the party as promised.

She was said to be the only female fundraiser for the Omisore’s group, spending heavily to make sure that the group had upper-hand before the last state congress that produced Adagunodo and his executives.

It was gathered that the Omisore’s group zoned the state women leader of the party to Central, a development that sooth Oyedele and spur her to spend more for the group to realize her ambition.

Oyedele reportedly sold two cars and other properties in the course of sponsoring the group, while she released herself for the party’s assignment which affected her businesses.

But the post of the women leader was later clandestinely zoned to Ikirun in Ifelodun local government, and specifically given to a strong PDP woman in the community.

It was learnt that while the Omisore’s group was grandstanding on the congresses, Oyedele could not come out of the shock of the disappointment she met from the group.

CityMirrorNews learnt that she was later offered the post of the senatorial women leader by the group which she rejected.

The ward, local government and state congresses of the PDP was, however, boycotted by the Omisore’s group on the ground that the processes had been manipulated to favour Adagunodo’s camp.

Rising in support of the businesswoman, a PDP women group, the Positive Force, called on Omisore to show leadership by example, claiming that most of them chose to join his group because of their belief and trust in the leadership and ability of Oyedele to lead Osun PDP women.

Coordinator of the group, Alhaja Sola Oladimeji said: “This is the first time in our party that we have a woman who is sponsoring herself and empowering women. We believe this is the right choice and if the party’ leadership feels otherwise, they should let us go to the field to choose who will lead us.

“We want to warn that the purported choice of a woman with no political or electoral value to lead us will be resisted with the whole of our strength. We therefore, urge Otunba Omisore to come clean on this by distancing himself from this awkward choice that is capable of destabilising the party.”
