NSCDC reads riot act to suspected ritual killers in Kwara

Hard times await ritual killers and pipeline vandals in Kwara State as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara command said it has concluded arrangements to investigate cases of suspected ritual killings in the State.
The state’s Commandant, Mr Idiba Pedro who disclosed this while receiving the newly elected executive members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), on Wednesday.
Pedro stated that his command will curb “pocket of vandalism and adulterations of lubricating oil” in the state.
Pedro said the command, under his leadership, has stepped up its operation in combating crimes in line with its core mandates, saying that the Federal Government would not regret the reasons for which the corps was established.
The commandant said though, the crime level in the state was very low compared to other states in the federation; there were still some crimes that cannot be imagined in the state.
He maintained that the command has zero tolerance for corruption, stressing that it has developed a slogan of ‘Collect bribe, you die to’ to constantly remind officers and men of the corps to shun corrupt tendencies.”
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ chapel, Mr Layi Olanrewaju commended the command for ensuring good working relationship with media practitioners in the state even as it lauded the corps for its doggedness in fighting crimes.
Olanrewaju said: “Because of the civil manner in which officers and men of corps carry out their duties, many people now prefer to take their cases to Civil Defence.”
