How Olalere Re-elected as Chairman of NUJ in Osun…Women also dance with bottle to celebrate his victory
Osun state Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, re-elected Comrade Abiodun Olalere because of the social life he lives during his first tenure.
Those who spoke with CityMirrorNews noted that Olalere’s victory was not surprising.
As at the time of filing this report at 9.50pm, friends and colleagues of Olalere in the pen profession and outside are still celebrating the victory as they wine and dine at the NUJ council.
The election which took place at the NUJ press centre in Osogbo, was conducted in a very peaceful manner.
The chairmanship position was keenly contested between the incumbent chairman, Biodun Olalere,
of Osun Broadcasting Corporation(OSBC) and Oladele Ajayi, of Unique Radio FM, Ilesha.
While the post of Secretary was contested between Boladale Bamigbola of National Mirror Newspaper and Babatunde Fanawopo of OSBC.
Olalere, was re-elected with 195 votes to defeat Ajayi, who scored 159 votes.
Bamigbola won with 198 votes to clinch the secretaryship position while Fanowopo scored 161 votes.
Other elected Members of the union are: Kehinde Ayantunji, Vice Chairman, Egbodofo Olusola for auditor position, Adebisi Alao for Treasurer, Awe Isaiah as assistance secretary.
In his acceptance, Olalere promised to fulfill his electoral promises.
He said he would make the welfare of the members his priority.
