Ospoly Management Suspends Students’ Union Activities Over Disruption

The management of Osun State Polytechnic, OSPOLY, Iree has suspended its Student Union Government activities over the disruption of Legislative Arms sitting on 5th of May, 2016.

This was contained in the memo released by the management of the institution signed by the registrar, Barrister Busari Salawu and made.

The memo reads in part, ” At its meeting of today Tuesday 10th May, 2016, the top management committee considered the letter of 6th May, 2016, which the Students Representative Council, SRC, forwarded to the Directorate of Students Affairs concerning the disruption of SRC meeting of 5th May, 2016 in which the following issues were raised:

Disruption of SRC meeting; Stealing of SRC maze, threat to lives of leadership and members of SRC, as well as  allegation of physical assault which culminated in the severe beaten of the speaker, Hon. Olakunle Azeez and other members of the SRC”.

In view of this, the management said it couldn’t fold its arms till the matters degenerate into violence.

The school authority contented to set up an investigative committee to look into the matter as all students union activities would be placed on hold.

However, students have been implored to be law abiding while the investigation is on.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, the Student Union President, Dean Student Affairs of the institution and the Speaker of SRC could not be reached so as to give their own version on the memo.
