The paternal grandmother of Arole Oodua and Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), Queen Mariani Adeyemi Ogunwusi on Tuesday February 9, 2016 died at the age of 104.
A press statement issued by the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Comrade Moses Olafare stated that queen Ogunwusi died on Tuesday at exactly 4:30am in her house at Ile-Ife.
According to the statement, the deceased was survived by her only surviving son Prince Oluropo Ogunwusi, who is the father of Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi and twelve grandchildren.
The statement also disclosed that Oba Ogunwusi’s grandmother had earlier lost her second child, Prince Isaac Olufemi Ogunwusi and her husband Prince Olaobaju Joseph Ogunwusi in 1995 and 1998.
“It is noteworthy to state that the late Queen Ogunwusi fondly called Mama Alaso might have had the premonition of her death as she had in the last one month been placing Ooni’s picture on her chest either while sleeping or sitting”.
“Mama always saying, God I thank you for making me alive to witness a dream of over forty years, I am now ready to return to you in heaven for an eternity and be able to tell my husband of this manifestation of our 1974 dream”.
The statement added that the remains of the deceased would be buried on 22nd and 23rd of April 2016
