PDP National Secretary, Wale Oladipo Escapes Kidnapping, Driver Kidnapped

The National Publicity Secretary of the Alimodu Sherif led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Professor Wale Oladipo on Thursday escaped being kidnapped by gunmen at Obajana road.
Prof. Oladipo’s convoy was waylaid by 12 gunmen while coming to Osogbo from Abuja at noon.
Prof. Oladipo was not in the vehicle as he was said to have taken flight from Abuja to Lagos.
When the kidnappers stopped the vehicles, they reportedly asked for Wale Oladipo by saying ‘where is your boss’.
The driver of the Oladipo’s jeep, Amoo Bamisayemi was reportedly kidnapped while Mr Jimoh Adetoro, a Special Assistant to Oladipo and Odunyemi Haruna Bukola who were in the other vehicles escaped.
CityMirrorNews gathered the kidnappers hurried fled into the bush on hearing the siren of a security vehicles.
An impeccable source disclosed to the medium that the incident occurred around 3:00pm on Thursday.
The source said: “Jimoh Adetoro, SA to Oladipo, Odunyemi Haruna Bukola, and Amoo Bamisayemi were coming from Abuja and they were waylaid by about 12 gunmen around Obajana and Osara. The gunmen were shooting sporadically.
“While they were asking for the owner of the vehicles boss, some police vehicles were coming from Lokoja and the gunmen fled to the bush. They dragged a driver, Amoo Bamisayemi with them. It was the policemen from Osaro police station that rescued them.”
CityMirrorNew learnt that the kidnappers had earlier demanded a sum of N10 million ransoms but later reduced it to N1m on Saturday morning.
When contacted on phone, the Divisional Police Officer of Osara Police Station said he could not comment on the matter. He said the matter has been reported at the State Command.
The was unable to get the phone number of the Police Public Relations Officer, Kogi Command, Mr Williams Aya, an Assistant Superintendent of Police.
CityMirrorNew gathered that a pastor, his wife and the driver were also kidnapped on the same road on Friday.
As at the time of filing this report, kidnapped Bamisayemi has not been released.
Prof. Oladipo did not answer call not reply the text message sent to him.
