Governor Ahmed Dissolves 16 LGs, Begin Move to Appoint Caretaker Committee

Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed has dissolved all the chairmen and other political office holders in the 16 local government councils of the state with immediate effect.
Some sacked council chairmen and others have immediately begun lobbying powerful people with to ensure that they are returned, it was learnt.
The local government council areas include Asa, Baruten, Edu, Ekiti, Ifelodun, Ilorin East, Ilorin West, Ilorin South, Irepodun, Isin, Kaiama, Moro, Offa, Oke-Ero, Oyun and Pategi.
The dissolution order, which was contained in the Kwara State Legal Notices No: 4-19, is in exercise of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed’s power conferred on him by section 18(5) (c) of the State Local Government Law (as amended) Cap K33, Laws of Kwara State.
A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Isiaka Gold and made available to the CityMirrorNews on Sunday, directed all the affected public office holders including the Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Councillors, Secretaries to the Local Government Councils and Supervisors to immediately vacate their offices and handover to their respective Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs).
The Governor appreciated the contributions and supports of the affected officers towards the development of the State, wishing them success in their future endeavours.
Meanwhile, some of the sacked council bosses are leaving no stone unturned to ensuring that they are reappointed as chairmen of Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) pending the conduct of fresh local government councils’ polls.
Impeccable e source confided in CityMirrorNews that some colossal amount of money has allegedly exchanged hands between the former council bosses and party leadership in the state.
The source which is close to Government House and APC state secretariat told CityMirrorNews that the Governor Ahmed was not favourably disposed to their requests.
The Governor, according o the sources, is interested in giving opportunities to other party faithful who have not occupy any political offices to apply for the coveted seats.
