Pastor arrested in Ogun for ‘raping’ lover’s daughter
A pastor of a Celestial Church of Christ in Abeokuta, Michael Adeniran, has been arrested for allegedly defiling and impregnating a 15-year-old daughter of a member of his church.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State command, Abimbola Oyeneye, told PREMIUM TIMES on Sunday that the complainant, who is the mother of the girl, was reported to be the suspect’s lover.
“The shepherd was arrested yesterday 5th of November following a complaint from the mother of the girl who incidentally happened to be the suspect’s lover,” said Mr. Oyeyemi.
According to him,the complainant had found her daughter pregnant, and after intense interrogation, revealed that the pastor was responsible for it.
“The mother, who could not believe what she heard reported to the police which prompted the DPO Adigbe division SP Onatufeh Omoh to detail detectives to effect the arrest of the randy shepherd,” stated Mr. Oyeyemi.
He said the victim informed the police that the suspect lured her into his car on the day she marked her birthday and forcefully deflowered her.
Mr. Oyeyemi further said the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the immediate transfer of the case to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the state Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
“The CP also reiterated his earlier warning to parents to always be watchful of their children in order to prevent them from becoming victim in the hands of people with devilish intention,” he said.
The police spokesperson said the suspect would be charged to court as soon as the investigation was concluded.
